Long Vacation

Having experienced a long drought of no work, no pay thingy... I was finally out of it and came to be one of the newbies in SSC-Manila. It was a short process for me since I applied two weeks before the classes began.

Looking back, I only stayed at home, thinking of how to overcome the poverty that I was in. Thinking how to pay my electricity bills, telephone bills, internet bills, tuition fee of my brother, and grocery. I can only eat once a day, one full meal a day. The full meal would include water, banana, a piece of bread, and some candies too. Sometimes I only ate chips for that full meal and drank lots of water. There are times when I don't eat anything and just went to sleep because I have to save the money for my application. Unfortunately, none of the schools I applied at called me. At that time, I was hesitant to apply in SSC-Manila because it's quite far from my house. Well, it only takes 30 minutes for me to get there. Whereas the other schools I applied where relatively near my abode. I have waited for their reply to my application as I have been waiting patiently, it dawned to me that I have 2 weeks left before the class began. It's already the second week of May and I should be with the other teachers now to join the in-service training. Well, that's part of my experience when I started working in the academe 5 years ago. (I can't believe it has already been five years since I started working as a teacher.) Then, I remembered keeping a calling card from one of the teachers I met in the British Council. I searched for it and sent her an SMS asking if they still need a teacher in their school. Fortunately, the answer was yes. Then, I personally submitted my resume. Several days later, they called me up for an interview and I was given a chance to give a demo teaching. After a few days, I was called to take an exam and I was asked to come for the final interview. Lastly, I was chosen to become a part of the faculty members in SSC-Manila.

My long vacation was officially over on the 30th of May 2008. I was asked to report immediately on June 2, 2008 to attend the faculty retreat. Unfortunately, I cannot attend because I need to finish the contract I had in my part time job. Finally, I officially reported in the school on June 6, 2008.
